The Wardrobe Swap — With Kids
Holly on the spring clothing swap: involving kids, letting go of almost-fits, and drawers they can actually close.

It's Holly here.
March in Michigan is a wardrobe identity crisis. Snow pants in the morning, sneakers by afternoon. Add growing kids and you have a dresser that will not shut.
Try-on is a game, not a trial
Put on music. Make two laundry baskets: keep and pass along. If it is tight in the shoulders, it is done. “Maybe next year” is how drawers fill with ghosts.
One season in the dresser
Off-season clothes live in a labeled bin, not mixed in. Kids can put away laundry when they can see the categories.
Keep a small grow-into bin
I do keep a few next-size pieces. One bin. Not a closet of hope. That distinction has saved my sanity.
If the kids’ closets currently require a wrestling match, we can do a swap that leaves you with room — and them with clothes they will wear.
