School-Year Systems That Last

Holly on the September systems that still work in March: homework, backpacks, and a week that does not live on the island.

It's Holly here.

September is full of good intentions. Color-coded calendars. A homework station with fresh pencils. By March those systems are often a pile with a lamp. This year, let’s build the version that lasts.

Homework lives where you already sit

A tray that can appear on the kitchen table and disappear into a cabinet. If the “office” is in a cold basement, it will not get used. Design for real life.

Backpacks have a parking spot

Hooks at kid height, a bin for library books, a tray for the papers that need a signature tonight. The floor is not a backpack stand.

A Sunday reset, fifteen minutes

Refill the pencil cup. Check the calendar. Put the water bottles back on the launch pad. Tiny maintenance beats a heroic overhaul every Sunday night.

This is the last post of our 2026 summer, and the one I most want families to try. If you want us to set the school-year system with you, we are booking now through Oakland County.

More room, less scramble. That is the whole job.
