Start Holiday Prep in October

Kelly on why October is the kindest month to get your kitchen, guest linens, and serving pieces ready for the holidays.

Hey everyone, it’s Kelly!

I know. October is for cider and football, not for the gravy boat. But the most relaxed holiday hosts we work with start now, in tiny sessions, while the calendar is still breathing.

Audit the serving pieces

Pull the platters, the extra chairs, the tablecloths. If you hated using it last year, donate it. If it needs a wash, wash it now — not the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

Freeze the future

A labeled freezer is a love letter to November-you. Soups, cookie dough, a tray of roasted vegetables. This is organizing and nutrition holding hands.

Guest linens get a bin

Towels, extra blankets, a spare toothbrush basket. One bin, one closet shelf, done. When someone stays over, you are not hunting.

Give us a October morning and we will holiday-proof the kitchen and linen closet so December can be about people, not piles.
